How do genetic data inform our understanding of social history, the present and the future of humanity?  The goal of this course is to provide foundational knowledge of social genetics research, provide a survey of the core concepts and controversies within the subfield, and give students the basic statistical and biological tools they need to pursue research in this line of inquiry. The course will cover conceptual, critical, and applied approaches to the topic to give the students a strong grasp of both core concepts as well as the practical knowledge of their benefits and limitations. CRISPR gene editing, polygenic prediction and embryo selection, genetic nurture, population structure, Mendelian randomization—these are some of the topics we will cover.
